Plaintiffs From Around The U.S. File Plavix Injury Lawsuit

Plaintiffs from across the nation just filed a Plavix lawsuit alleging that the so-called “super aspirin” caused them to suffer strokes, heart attacks, and other adverse reactions.

In all, 72 plaintiffs allege reactions that also include internal bleeding, blood disorders, and death after taking the drug manufactured and marketed by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and Sanofi Aventis, The Madison-St. Clair Record wrote. (more…)

Canada Issues Recommendations For Plavix, PPIs

Canada just issued recommendations for Plavix (clopidogrel) and heartburn drugs called PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) in light of new information indicating that although PPIs do interact with Plavix, not all PPIs impact efficacy in the same way. Health Canada said it is advising health professionals and patients with the updated recommendations.

Plavix is typically prescribed to patients with a history of heart-related problems, such as heart attack and stroke, to prevent future events, said Health Canada. The blood thinner been linked to some significant adverse reactions according to its label, specifically gastrointestinal and cerebral hemorrhaging, as well as eye (conjunctival, ocular, retinal) bleeding, musculoskeletal bleeding, fatal intracranial bleeding, respiratory tract bleeding, and skin bleeding. Plavix Plaintiff Claims Blood Thinner No Better Than Aspirin

Bristol-Myers Squibb and Sanofi face another lawsuit over their blood thinning drug Plavix. The company promotes Plavix as being better than aspirin for prevention of heart attacks and strokes but plaintiffs claim this is not true.

In fact, the company currently faces more than 20 suits filed in New Jersey federal court over Plavix, with similar claims that the drug is no more effective than aspirin but has more risks. (more…)
